Geography Trivia Quiz

QUIZ PAGE NOT CURRENTLY MAINTAINED!! (2/2001)

Since the update last year I've been very busy working on my dissertation. Since December of 2000 I have moved on from graduate school and am now at Michigan State University. I would like to correct the dead links and add new questions, but I lack the time presently to do the project justice. Many parts of the page work well; other links do not. I hope it continues to entertain and enlighten, even in its current state.

The Geography Trivia Quiz (updated March 29, 2000) I've worked on the page to make the question list larger, more international, and more educational. I've added lots of links to maps and data. Also, I've reorganized the questions into subpages to keep this one from getting too long. As always I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions! Ship me interesting questions and facts and I'll put 'em on!

The CIA world factbook has maps, facts, flags, and political information for every nation.
Here's a great site with all sorts of geospatial data for any location in the U.S.
How far is it? Calculate distances (and get maps and information) between any two locations.
The University of Texas-Austin map library - historical, topical, etc. Great resource.
Here is the U.S. Geologic Survey's Gazetteer for all U.S. place names. Search for your town! Gazetteers for other countries are there too.
Some neat interactive North American atlases from USGS, including a volcano atlas, vegetation, elevation and more.

The "Classics"
I put these questions together back in 1996, I think. Maybe 1995! They've been upgraded with maps, hints, and lots more documentation about the answer (spring 2000).

More United States-oriented questions
These questions were developed in the late 1990's. Some involve sports, several are about the interstate system, and all are kind of tough.

International Questions
I've received several requests over the years to include more non-US questions. At last! In the winter of 2000 Nassim and some of his friends put together some excellent (and some very difficult) overseas trivia. Here it is....
