Global accuracy stats are INADEQUATE
- Not useful for user applications.
- Assume no trends in accuracy exist throughout the data domain.
- Assume independence of error at neighboring locations..
Uncertainty Modeling/Simulation/Propagation:
- Develop a model characterizing uncertainty in the data.
- Use this model to develop a set of simulations of the “ground truth”.
- Process the set of simulations (or realizations) through the spatial analysis.
- Method is General: applicable to any spatial application
