That Ashton... not only is he a techy geek but he's too cheap to pay for a studio portrait! Ayley loved the mirror shot, though - and she really didn't like the guy down at Sears who took our December picture!

Mark and Andrea Glazier sent a nice outfit specially for Jessamine. Whaddya think little girl? Hey... she likes it! Yes, Jessa started smiling. Officials for the State Department feel this may be a breakthrough in the peace process, though we are nowhere near a bilateral moratorium on crying yet.
Anastasia gets to spend a lot of time with our smallest family member... and Ayley likes holding her little sister too! You can see Jessa's looking around with more interest than she was even a week before...
... but she still sleeps a lot! Here she's sacked out on the bed. What with all the stress and parental baby preoccupation, Ayley has decided to skip the preteen years altogether and become a rebellious teen. Yes, she dresses herself like this sometimes!
Ayley's a pretty sharp gal - she certainly has all her ducks in a row....
and a whale too, actually. She's a big fan of ordered sets like the ducks. The other weekend Ayley carefully collected about 15 toy balls of all colors and sizes in the courtyard - probably took 15 minutes to do this. Then she laid them out in a completely straight line. This is a busy, busy, girl! Below she revels in two matching but differently colored Teletubbies. We swore as responsible parents that this -- and the Barney phenomenon -- would never cross our threshhold, and here it is, gazing lovingly into our daughter's face.

Completely surrounded by computers and yesterday's electronic gadgets! Some of you may recognize his high school alarm clock/radio glowing bluely in the upper right. Others may recognize Jodie and David's baby monitor in the foreground. This is what happens when you make assurances you can finish the dissertation by Christmas....
