Rickie Sanders is Professor of Geography/Urban Studies at Temple University.
She has recently completed directing the NSF funded NCGE project, "Finding
A Way: Encouraging Girls of All Racial and Ethnic Backgrounds in
Geography Classrooms." Her interests revolve around issues of gender,
race, and class in geography classrooms and the question of individual
difference. Sanders' publications from this work focus on obstacles
(and opportunities) to effective transmission of critical thinking in geography
and how critical pedagogy can provide opportunities to more fully engage
students. Her most recent book, Growing Up in America is a comprehensive
atlas examining the lives of America's children. It is published
by Macmillan Publishers.
