Biographical Sketch
Sarah Witham Bednarz
Texas A&M University

Sarah Witham Bednarz is assistant professor of geography at Texas A&M University. She teaches courses on human geography, the geography of Texas, and geography education. Her research interests focus on cognition and geography. As one of the primary authors of the National Geography Standards, she developed the materials on geographic skills as well as other components of the project. Prior to developing the National Standards, she served on the team that developed the framework for the 1994 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Geography Assessment.  Currently she is working with a team to produce a publication focused on problem-based learning, GIS, and elementary and secondary school geography.
