UCSB is using GIS - extensively. It is no surprise to find GIS all over campus, and off campus as well. UCSB is home to the Center for Spatially Integrated Social Science (CSISS), and the National Center for Geographic Information & Analysis (NCGIA). A central objective of CSISS and NCGIA is to help spread GIS - through workshops, publications, tools, learning resources, and the internet.

Several departments and research centers have particularly interesting and noteworthy applications of GIS. They include the Geography Department, Anthropology Department, and the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management.

We invite you to learn more about GIS at UCSB by visiting the teaching, research, and people pages. These pages were prepared for the UCGIS membership portfolio. UCSB delegates to UCGIS are Keith Clarke and Michael Goodchild. Phaedon Kyriakidis and Sara Irina Fabrikant are alternates.
