US Urban Growth Forecast Animation |
Washington Baltimore Region: 1792 - 2100
| The data for these images were created by the Clarke Urban growth model. These are only preliminary animations used to test different color combinations for predictive probabilities. The animations are of the Washington D.C./ Baltimore region and begin in the year 1792. The areas in yellow indicate "urban". Subsequent frames continue at a rate of one for every 5 years. In the animation year 1995 the predicted urban growth begins to appear, and the last known urban extent, in yellow, remains static. What the colors are trying to convey is greater or lesser probability of urbanization in the future (inner and outer edge respectively). | |||||||||||||||||
