Under the auspices of the Curriculum Consultants Exchange Program, grants
are provided to qualified educators and advanced graduate students from
the United States and the Newly Independent States for projects to assist
in the development of social science and humanities curricula in post-
secondary educational programs of the NIS. Accredited US institutions are
invited to submit proposals to host NIS participants of the CCEP program
for one semester this fall. Post-secondary level faculty and predoctoral
candidates from participating countries of the NIS have already been
selected through an open competition to collaborate with their American
colleagues on issues of teaching methodology and course design in
disciplines of the social sciences and humanities. SUPPORT PROVIDED:
Curriculum Consultants will receive round trip travel from participants'
home cities in the NIS to US placement; stipend, medical insurance, and
limited allowances for teaching materials and professional development
activities. Institutions should allow participants to observe two
graduate level pedagogy training courses at no cost to the program;
designate a faculty advisor to serve as a mentor to the participant; and
provide basic training in and access to electronic mail. Applications
from interested US institutions will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Placements will be finalized by early summer, programs will begin in
September 1997.
