Getting Started in Remote Sensing/Transportation

In addition to research, the NCRSTs are engaged in a 3-point program of outreach: We are developing a variety of resources to help you get started with remote sensing in transportation.  There are different ways to navigate this area, depending on your need for information.
  1. EasyReads: TechBriefs and Cookbooks.  Easy to read technical introductions and research digests.  Findings presented as step-by-step instructions to the do-it-yourselfer.
  2. Bibliography (including web sites).  Annotated bibliography on transportation, GIS and remote sensing, that serves your needs as well as ours.
  3. Glossary and Blurbs.  One-liners and one-pagers on selected topics.
  4. Application Tree.  Transportation professionals new to remote sensing might begin here.  For each functional area of DOT activity (e.g. bridges), we point you to relevant areas of research and resources.
  5. FAQ.  Focused questions and answers.
  6. Curriculum in GIS-T and RS-T.  To support training of GIS/RS professionals.
  7. Directory of vendors of data, software/systems and services in GIS, remote sensing and transportation.
We'd like to know how well this structure and content serves your needs.  Please use the feedback form it to let us know what we've missed.
