The National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis is an independent research consortium dedicated to basic research and education in geographic information science and its related technologies, including geographic information systems (GIS).
December 1, 2018 will mark the 30th anniversary of the beginning of NSF’s multi-million-dollar funding for the fledgling National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA) at its three consortium sites, UCSB; the State University of New York, Buffalo; and the University of Maine.
